Description

Riccardo Freda’s “I Vampiri” (aka “The Vampires” / “Lust of the Vampires” / “The Devil’s Commandments”, 1957) is considered to be the first Italian horror movie of the Sound Era. It is indeed the forefather of a genre that in the following decades will bring Italian directors such as Bava, Argento and Fulci to become some of the most influential horror filmmakers of all time. Fun Fact: Mario Bava stepped in as director in this movie, replacing Freda and starting his glorious career. The score is composed, arranged and conducted by Maestro Roman Vlad and it fits perfectly with the flick’s atmosphere, guiding the listener through the streets of a dark and gothic Paris. All the tracks from the original reels are included in this double LP, also the ones left out or edited, because of some technical issues on the original master tape or some background noise from the orchestra itself.

Music composed, arranged and conducted by Roman Vlad Seq. 10-20 are missing from the master tapes All the tracks from the original reels are included in this LP, also the ones left out or edited, because of some technical issues on the original master tape or some background noise from the orchestra itself.

To preserve the artistic fidelity of the opus, all the tracks have been mastered, even if in some of them background noises could be barely heard. Mastered for vinyl at Toxic Basement Studio by Carlo Altobelli.
